April 18, 2005 at 4:38 amDoes anyone know about the compatability of the kona2 and fcp5. I’m about to start editing a film and want to upgrade but want to make sure that that is not a bad decision. I would hope that it’s fine and might even boost performance in a way but I’m not positive, any Ideas?

April 18, 2005 at 2:32 pmIt is always a BAD idea to upgrade in the middle of a project.
If you must start now then you should finish your project in FCP 4.5 and upgrade to FCP 5 after completion.

April 18, 2005 at 4:23 pmThe deal is though, that I am just offline logging for the next four weeks so I thought that it might be ok to save all those files and transfer them seeing that I’m not actually editing untill then.

April 19, 2005 at 3:15 amif your just logging clips, do whatever. keep the tape obviously. you will heal quicker from a cpu crashed project than from a good snowboarding wipe, that is for sure.
what you will see most editors who have long careers say is to wait. it is like playing texas hold ’em–going all in works every time except once!

April 20, 2005 at 1:54 amI talked to the AJA guys last week and they said that Kona2
is compatible with FCP5.They said that the Io will have to wait for the drivers; which they
released yesterday.Still, I would not switch just yet; you have 4-6 weeks anyway…
