Select the mask shape parameter in the timeline. Copy. Select the “flare center” parameter of the lens flare effect. Paste. The flare center should now follow the mask.

For the line growth, apply render>stroke to the mask layer and animate the end point of the stroke effect. You’ll have to sync it by hand.

Search the help for “continuous rasterization” or “continuously rasterize” or “illustrator”.

  • Can you just slow down the bounce? Possibly reduce the amplitude of the bounce? My experience shows that if the audience knows the people in the pictures, they want to see the people in the pictures.

Then use lens flares at transition points.
    And shine, too. 🙂

No … but I have experience with Twixtor and ReTimer, if that helps.

I prefer Twixtor now, having used it to slow down a shot of two kids running through a field of tall grass. ReTimer couldn’t do it without mushing the grass.

April 25, 2005 at 7:32 pm in reply to: Glass Shatter

What would it look like in real life?

After it shatters, how would you tell it is glass? You’d see reflections in it, and highlights on the edges.

But here’s the problem: AE doesn’t do raytraced reflections. So why don’t you try shattering a movie that starts black, then shows an image of a room or fractal noise or whatever. Time it so that image is shown at the moment of shatter or just afterward. You can still use add or screen mode.

    Hope that helps,

April 25, 2005 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Moving Still has Artifact Lines… PLEASE HELP!!!

What kind of lines? Horizontal or vertical?
When did you see them? RAM preview? Playing back the final rendered file?
Do you see them when you stop playback and freeze on a frame?
Did you render with or without fields?
Are you seeing the lines on your computer monitor or on a TV set?

Without knowing more, I can’t be sure what you’re seeing.

Send the project, with the still, to ads at reidroberts dot com.
(And please don’t post a confirmation message showing that address as a proper e-mail address (yes, it’s been done). I wrote it that way to confuse spambots trolling the COW.)

    Cheers,

Go to Turbo Squid, and search on “Oscar”, or just go here:
    https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm?FuseAction=ProcessSearch&intStartRow=1&istSearchKey=oscar&intMediaType=-1

By the way, the Oscar statuette is copyright AMPAS (“The Academy”).

April 25, 2005 at 1:45 pm in reply to: How to up rez in AE?

Of course. Drop the SD comp into an HD comp and scale up. But to make it actually look good, you need special algorithms, and AE don’t got ’em. You need to go “third-party”.

    Don’t know about MB.
