  • Moving Still has Artifact Lines… PLEASE HELP!!!

I’m in a bit of a panic. Project is due and I can’t solve this issue. I’m moving a still image across the screen. I created the word “EVOLUTION” in Photoshop, then filled in the individual letters with lots of jpegs. I brought the still into AFX and made 2 position keyframes, moving word “EVOLUTION” right to left. No matter what I do I see thin lines randomly appearing as image moves across screen.

Here’s what I’ve tried to fix the problem:
    1. flattened image and de-interlaced in Photoshop
    2. motion blur in Phothoshop
    3. Motion blur in AFX
    4. Tried image as JPEG, TIF, PICT, PSD
    5. Tried moving 3D camera in AFX instead of image
    6. Used effect “remove flicker interlacing” on AFX layer

I’m at wits-end. What can I do to fix this problem before my client fires me?!

    Thanks for your help.

I’ll be glad to e-mail the image/AFX file to anyone who thinks they can help!

What kind of lines? Horizontal or vertical?
When did you see them? RAM preview? Playing back the final rendered file?
Do you see them when you stop playback and freeze on a frame?
Did you render with or without fields?
Are you seeing the lines on your computer monitor or on a TV set?

Without knowing more, I can’t be sure what you’re seeing.

Send the project, with the still, to ads at reidroberts dot com.
(And please don’t post a confirmation message showing that address as a proper e-mail address (yes, it’s been done). I wrote it that way to confuse spambots trolling the COW.)

    Cheers,
    Steve
