I’m looking for a retimer plug-in. If anyone has experience with both the Twixtor and Kronos products and can offer advice if would be much appreciated.

No … but I have experience with Twixtor and ReTimer, if that helps.

I prefer Twixtor now, having used it to slow down a shot of two kids running through a field of tall grass. ReTimer couldn’t do it without mushing the grass.

Thanks Steve. I’ve heard good things from others about Twixtor too, but I haven’t found anyone who’s worked with Kronos. I know The Foundry makes top-notch stuff so I imagine their product is very good as well. Just looking for a comparison.

    Thanks again.

KRONOS!!!! the best retimer out there, bar none. have worked with all retimers, kronos is the best…by far … no doubt.

for real. we used to use twixtor all the time but then furnace came out with the plug for AE. we tested it against twixtor, re-timer, annnd some other one i cant remember. kronos is much faster and gives the best results. only problem is that you have to buy render licenses, so if you are rendering over a network … it could get expensive.

    anyway, i hope that helps!

Have you used Twixtor lately? The new version (4.5) that came out in March is much much better (we completely rewrote the tracker), and our Pro version has many more features to fix the tracking when things “go bad.” ( and yes, things will go bad with ANY retiming software). We believe that Twixtor 4.5 compares favorably against Kronos even without any manual help, but I’ll let you decide for yourself. You try it out you can see for yourself that we pretty darn fast too (as far as this stuff goes).

Why don’t you try our demo version? I believe Kronos has a demo version too. You can compare for yourself.

we have been trying to get our software buyer to get us twixtor 4.5 for awhile now, but he be tight with the money. it looks as though we will have a full version soon. i have been looking forward to trying it out, as we are always looking for the best. we loved twixtor 4 pro, and used it to it’s full potential. i hope all that you claim is true, ‘cus if it IS better than furnace, i’ll poop.

    thanks!

The new twixtor is great. I still prefer Furnace over twixtor becuase it is extremely easy to use and always looks great. However, twixtor does have some advanced features and frame rate conversion tools that might be benificial.

good luck. check out the demos

Thanks everyone for the opinions and info. I’m installing both of the demos and putting together some test footage. I’m going to bring this up again after I play around with them.

Looking forward to it. Thanks again.

If they are comparable why is Twixtor 5 X the price of Kronos? Bit odd…
