  • Currently, the only way to share between projects is to import one project into another.

    1. Save the project. Consider saving a backup too.
    2. Save As under a new name. (“text_preset.aep”?)
    3. Delete everything except the text layer. Save.
    4. Open the original project, then import the “text_preset.aep” project.
    5. Copy/paste the text layer into the appropriate comp.

    Hope that helps,

Unfortunately, shatter pieces can’t lie in a heap. They can’t be stopped that way.

I can think of one solution:
    – the building layer is actually a comp, where the building is at the bottom of the comp.As you shatter the building, the pieces fall out of the comp and disappear.
    – something is placed in the beach comp (over the building layer) to obscure the fact that a heap does not appear. Usually a large dust cloud or a sand dune will suffice. Stock footage might be best for the cloud, but you might be able to fake it with Particular.

Normally, this is done with 3D software or miniatures. AE isn’t very good at creating realistic simulations.

    Hope that helps,

April 28, 2005 at 1:29 pm in reply to: Any tips on lip syncing using brush strokes?

I would draw the mouth with a mask and use render>stroke to make the mask visible as a line. Then I’d animate the mask shape.

    FAQ alert!

Sorry, no. AE has never had this capability, unfortunately. Maybe if they completely rewrite the app in the next rev, then subsequent versions might be backwards-compatible. But I don’t think it’s a priority for the team.

Did you install the Cycore effects from the AE CD?

April 27, 2005 at 2:04 pm in reply to: erasing lead rope from footage

You can draw a mask that follows the rope shape (probably by hand) then apply render>stroke. Use that as a track matte for a copy of the same footage, but offset the footage a few frames in time. You want to reveal the footage before (or after) the rope was in that position in frame.

    You see?

Look in the “support files” folder within the AE directory. There should be a “presets” folder there. You can make your own sub-folders therein and save presets there.

A “favorites” folder is no longer used.
