[Chris Smith] “Yowza. That will be tough. I’ll give you my thoughts, but I’d be amazed if it will ever look “normal”.”

I agree. When you’re done fixing, if you can still see the glitch, you should consider adding some more moving panels to make it look like a deliberate effect.

Try applying effect>time>posterize time, setting to a low frame rate.

Keep in mind that if the original footage had some motion blur, it can’t be removed.

Have you searched under “quill” or “calamus”?

PP can be very slow — that’s normal. However, it’s generally only slow for the first frame. The subsequent frames usually fall into place more quickly.

If, however, you can buy it, Trapcode’s Particular is quite a nice particle generator, and it’s much zippier than PP.

Check the help under “3D Compositing > Working with 3D layers > Understanding 3D layer material options”.

Shadows need to be cast by the light and the object, and accepted by the background.

Search the AE help for ease.
For more control, then drag the bezier direction handles on the value graph.

    It’s all in the help.

Hmm … if he’s exposing at T2.8, and his meter reads T2 at the background, then he is underexposing it. Yes?

It depends on what you want to do. If you enter text with the text tool, you can animate the characters in a lot of different ways. You can’t do everything with the tool, though. For instance, you can’t animate blur letter-by-letter, and you can’t move individual letters in Z-space that way — you have to do those things in other ways.

What do you want to do?
