Well Mark,
If you don’t know what is meant by a virtual drive, its likely you do not have it on your system (it is in fact the process of creating the illusion in your computer that it has extra drives, primarly for
opening iso files among other features or run a programme directly from it).

Well i can then confidently tell you that something is conflicting
with sony vegas. And no amount of reinstalling and configuring vegas
is gonna solve the problem, you have to first rid your system of the
offending file/files that i think is hidden in the registry that’s causing this conflict.

Just in case there is a corrupt file there somewhere, try this:
press start on your task bar….then run…type in: chkdsk c:/f
then press ok….a prompt should come up telling you that check
disc will run when the computer restarts or somthinge like that..
type y then enter….Do this process twice just to make sure.
Restart your computer and it should start its disk checking
process….if it doesn’t…restart again until it does.

BTW…..Where you once using Norton Antivirus?

Check to see if you have the mute button on, on the timeline.
Or make sure you are not selecting WMA or an audio only output
in your render selections.

“C:PROGRA~1|Symantec|S32EVNT1.DLL An installable Virtual Device Driver failed Dll initialization”

This error report seems (maybe)to have something to do with a virtual drive installed on your computer…are you using daemon tools or any virtual drive emulator running on your system.

Or, do you have Norton Antivirus installed on there? If so, is it causing some other problem?

As you found out for yourself, that vegas handles HDV more effeciently,
along with very accurate key factors and comparisons laid out by Douglas:
Added that Adobe Premier has a much wider support for third party plugins: Vegas has very good compositing features to handle basic
to mid-level compositing needs:
You then now need to make your own personal assessment,
according to your needs.Both are good: Both output the
same pristine quality. So which ever you find more
comfortable and you can get things done faster and
easier. (you know which i would recommend…but it is
up to you…offering you an unbiased assessment).

This is new to me. Never experienced this. But what i know is that

Sorry to say i haven’t.That embedded time-code is not coming from Vegas but if you did not mention it, i would have definitely said
it was your source footage.
Probably you can check the customizing of the xvid codec when you
are rendering to see if some action prompts this.
I don’t use xvid for a number of reasons so i cant be too specific
where this codec is concerned.

If you have a compositing software as an additional tool to your editing you most definitely can get a plugin for it like what you are
looking for.

Autodesk Combustion is my personal “holy grail” for my high end compositing needs (Keylight works in this)…..But when not doing keying in vegas i do it in Combustion using “zMatte” from ‘digital film tools’. To me, this plugin is a bit superior to Keylight for
quick work.
