    Camera Decision-help needed!

    Hello, I shoot lots of high school sports (outdoor & indoor). Right now I am using a Sony VX2000 and am very happy with it. The time has come to purchase a second camera & I’m not sure which way to go. I originally was going to pickup another VX2000 or VX2100. Then I read about the Sony HVR-HD1000U. The thing is that right now I don’t need to sell HDV & and a lot of my shooting is in lower light situations (gyms & poorly lit football fields) for which the Sony vx cameras excell at. But for the price and the HDV option, should I seriously consider the Sony HVR-HD1000U? What kind of a can of worms gets opened up with editing HDV? I use Sony Vegas 7 as my editing software.
    Any thoughts are much appreciated.

    If you do low light shooting and fast action, I would recommend you buy another used vx2000. This way they are the same cameras with the same specs and the same settings, etc. If you mix and match you are bringing more issues in to post that do not have to be there. Also, if no one is requesting HD, then save your money and stick with buying a cheaper, used vx2000. You don’t want to trade good low light performance in SD for bad low light performance in HD. 1080 lines of bad footage is still bad, grainy footage.

    I would recommend you wait until someone comes around asking for HD and probably by then better prosumer cmos HD cams will be cheaper and better equipped to handle low light and fast action and still be within your budget.

    I strongly agree with Jeremy,
    Try purchasing a similar camera to the one you already have, to
    avoid editing issues. HD editing can wait until you have a demand for it.
