I think I see what you’re saying, but given the fact that a cube is a 3D object, the front and back sides don’t sit in the same Z space, won’t rotating the cube produce a kind of funky effect? I’m looking for a 2-sided plane that I can simply turn on the y-axis. I’ll give your suggestion a shot when I get time today. Thanks.

Don’t feel bad. Avid’s own Timewarp effect produces similar results. I simply don’t have the time to fiddle around and achieve a usable effect, so it isn’t a part of my “palette” right now.

IIRC Boris Red used to have a demo using a guy on a surfboard to illustrate how smoothly water spray passes over the subject, but I never saw what the filter settings were.

Agreed. The camera system needs work.

Make sure and get back to us and talk about how long it took to manipulate images of that size. I’d be curious as to how bogged down your system becomes.

There are several snow presets in the Keyframe Library. Render out all the thumbnails in there and take a look. I’ve used it a few times and I think it looks decent.

Like you said, this seems a little hard to believe given their relationship with Avid. Perhaps there are some M100 patents that Boris is interested in more than the NLE stuff.

Here in market 130 (Mid-Oregon) Avid rates for local retail are about $140/hr. depending on the volume of work, so I’d say you were undercharging a bit. Five years ago I was doing digital linear online here for about $350/hr. on longform corporates, but those days are gone…

If you don’t want to have an alpha channel, make sure you have the checkerboard On (the little blue dot on the bottom right of the Composite window). If you see checkerboard, you’ll wind up keying through that area. If you want text over a color background, go Ctrl+Alt+C for a new color track to be created. Make sure you move this track down to the bottom of your timeline and have your text tracks sitting on top of it. That, or you can change your V1 track already on the timeline from “V1” (the little orange V1 icon) to “Color”. HTH.

Yeah, I work for KEZI in Eugene, Oregon but they’ve now put everything under their Chambers Productions banner. That clip was a collection of things I’d done over the past 12 months – hard to say how long each took, but it was a lot of fiddling around. Hopefully I’ll soon be putting up some of this year’s stuff. IMO it’s not as visually interesting but the renders took much longer. Some 6 second clips were taking up to 2 hours probably due to all the bump mapped objects I was using.
