I think what he means is that he wants the video to match the perspective of the wall – a regular plane of video won’t match properly using just the rotation and scale controls. Corner pinning is what you’ll need to use to match the angles exactly.

  • One caveat – I don’t believe Media Mover will work in a Unity environment, so it might or might not be something to ponder. Does anyone know if Random will ever figure out a way to get MM to work in a network storage situation?

  • Hate to reply to my own post but I was thinking perhaps I should duplicate the base video layer, blow it up a bit and then use a duplicate of the spline object as a mask on it. Then as the “crystal” object tracks across the screen, the mask would only show the enlarged duplicate of the track directly underneath/through it. Anyone agree or disagree?

I think you can import your text file as one giant page. Then you change it from 3D Line Art to 3D Plane. Then you put this into a Title Container. Set the container to “Roll” under the Animation tab. Make a copy of your original text track and cut out everything you don’t want to show up as the first page of your roll. Copy the original text track again and do the same for what will be page two, and so on and so on… Make sure that page one is the topmost track in your Title Container. Turn off the original text track and I think you should have it. The Title Container should automatically space out each of the pages/tracks for your roll. HTH.

I’d also doublecheck Red’s keyframe library for examples of multi-page rolls. I don’t do a lot of that stuff myself but I’m betting there may be some hints in there to help you out. Who on earth would want to look at that much text on a screen??

If your NLE supports Red as a plugin, you can simply put it over the portions of your timeline where the clock is needed and adjust accordingly. I assume you know that Red can generate timecode and clock time internally? It almost sounds as if you want to videotape a clock and then use Red as a compositing tool to place it over your video.

Another way would be to set up whatever clock “times” you need in Red running on its own and render them out as Quicktime movies that would be imported into your NLE later. HTH.
