Chances are the video chip used in the notebook is the problem. Updated drivers may help.

Try the FFDshow codec, it supports H.264, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, H.263, VP3, VP6, Theora, MJPEG, SVQ3, MP3, AC3, DTS, E-AC3, AAC, and Vorbis.

500 cd/m2 max brightness (typical)The built in camera captures at 720p so I’d try producing a video at that resolution first and check the playback. Compression will also matter, the higher the bit rate, the harder for the phone to playback.

If you want to troubleshoot the problem,
1 Update your Video and Audio drivers to the latest. You probably have done this.
2 Try the 32 bit version of Vegas if your running the 64 bit version. You never know!
3 Try a previous version of Vegas like 9b, c or d.
4 The last resort is to wipe the hard drive and start over. If it’s going to work this will be your best shot.

1. What format are you downloading from Youtube? .MP4 should be using AAC audio which is usable in Vegas.
2. You could try trans-coding the audio to a .wav or .MP3 file in another program, then add it to the timeline. -
You could try EQing the audio to make it a little more tolerable. There should be other performances of this song on YouTube with better audio, maybe of this same performance from a different vantage point.

My 2cents
It sounds like hum, likely a grounding problem, What components are plugged in to wall outlets? Maybe move one to a different circuit or run off batteries. Or use noise removal filter in software (but it won’t sound natural).
