Vegas Won’t Open AVI (DivX Codec)
I captured some footage using my HDMI capture card using VHCapture.
I used the DivX 6.9.2 (4 logical CPU’s) codec. When I import to Vegas, it only imports the audio, but the file plays fine in Windows Media Player.
How do I get the video to import to Vegas?

Try the FFDshow codec, it supports H.264, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, H.263, VP3, VP6, Theora, MJPEG, SVQ3, MP3, AC3, DTS, E-AC3, AAC, and Vorbis.

I have this but I’m not sure what to do with this. Is this a codec to record, or will it help me open the file in vegas?

Vegas does not support editing DivX. Do not convert your files to DivX for use with Vegas. Use MJPEG, Huffyuv, Lagarith, DV, anything but DivX or XVid.

I think VH Capture has an MJPEG option, so I can try that.

MJPEG will be much easier to edit in Vegas and the file size isn’t too bad. It will be larger than DivX but way smaller than Huffyuv, Lagarith, or even FRAPS.

I’m rendering a test file right now to see if I can get the current file to play the audio in sync, if not I’ll try with MJPEG.
