I would never suggest trying to run the OS and programs and projects and captured material and exports all off of the same drive. I run separate drives for almost everything. You are looking for trouble. Use the 10K drive for applications and your RAID0 for captured material. Add another drive for projects and media cache and you will be in good shape.

Audio is captured with the video. If you have a camera that records to DVD or hard drive, then you possibly have MPEG with AC3 audio.

Most software companies do not go back and fix older revisions of their software once newer versions have been released.
What you may deserve, and what you should expect are not necessarily the same.
There are so many reasons to upgrade due to features, the fact that the software fixes bugs as well is just the way it is.

If it is CG, then create it at the proper speed for each part. Then you don’t have to ruin good animation with frame blending.

No guesses needed. The subclips from long clips take a long time because there was a mistake in the software code. They fixed in in CS3.
Big mistake, but since CS3 has it fixed, it is too late to complain about it to any real effect.

The AVCHD footage that camera shoots is not compatible with Premiere Pro. It is possible to get a program like UpShift from Vaast that will convert the AVCHD into HDV that can be used in Premiere Pro.
Just keep in mind that the footage from that type of camera is not designed to be edited, just watched. Which is why it needs conversion.

You need to use a bitrate calculator to estimate what data rate you can use. You may find that you need to experiment with your footage to get it down to 4GB (leaving room for the menus).

Depending on your authoring program, you may actually be OK letting it recompress for you.
