CORRUPTED PROJECT…how do I creat a new one?
I’m editing a Multi-cam project, using 9 cameras. Somewhere along the way I did somehting that has caused major problems with the project. Here’s what it does:
* The project takes forever to load
* Certain sequences and the master edit timeline take 10 seconds to start, after I hit the space bar. Other, older sequences play back fine.
* My delete button won’t work…I have to use ‘clear’ to delete something
* Every now and then I get a serious error and have to rename the project
* I’ve also endured MANY crashes and audio sync problems.
Any ides on how to solve these problems?
Would starting a new project solve these problems, and if so, how does one copy the present corrupted project to a new one?

Create a new project with the same settings and import the original project into the new one.

Thanks for the input Steven. Actually, I had already tried inputing the old project into a newly named one, but it instantly froze up. I only got an empty Import Files window and the Task Manager said ‘not repsonding’. I tried it several times with the same results. I also tried importing earlier ‘auto saved’ projects, with the same results.
I believe the new project settings were identical. I’m not sure how to check the old project settings for comparison.
I only have the last couple of projects saved. I deleted all the older, corrupted projects.
Any tips on what I should do next? I can’t seem to figure this one out.

Try moving all the footage / pictures to another folder, keeping the project where it is. Also, delete all your previews and peak files.
If the project opens (half way there), start relinking until you find the corrupted item.
If you, or someone else know anything about xml, you can also try opening the project in notepad and edit away.

Thanks Vince, much appreciated. I have three (3) questions for you.
(1) Where would I move the video & pictures folder…somewhere else on the drive and not in the projct folder?
(2) By ‘re-linking’ I presume you mean using ‘Link Media’?
I’m really glad to learn about about deleting ‘preview & peak’ files. I never have never deleted them, because I had problems one time and thought that might have messed up the project I was working on. I guess that’s partly why why this present project has used up some 800 GB’s of space!
Meantime, I’ve been using another ‘tip’ learned here on the COW. I’ve broken the project down into several smaller sub-projects. Things are working much better. I’m editing 15 minute segments. I plan to link these segments together, when I’m finished.
(3) In your opinion what is the best way to ‘link’ all these ‘sub projects’ into the final 2 hour video?
