When I try to export via the media encoder, some times, other people using WinMedia player on Windows XP cannot watch my wmv files. Then, I re-export, without changing any settings and it might work. Sometimes it may take three or four tries, but it will eventually export a readable file.

Is there a setting I’m missing?

    I’m using CS3 on a Vista machine.

What data rate are you using? And is it Vista 64 (unsupported)?

    The codec is WMV 9
    NTSC Source to Download 512kbps
    320x 240, 29.97 fps
Compressed, VBR, 2 pass, Avg 400.00 kbps.

I feel like this is a Vista issue. But, what puzzles me is if I re-do the export, it might work the scond or third (or fourth or fifth)time. The wmv plays fine on my Vista machine, but does not on an XP machine.
