You could copy it from the Premiere Pro sequence and paste it into an After Effects timeline. Then you could set up each “Make Movie” one at a time, but export all at once.

If you have Premiere Pro 2.0 and After Effects 7, just select everything in the Premiere Pro sequence, Ctrl-C to copy it, and Ctrl-v to paste it into the comp’s timeline.
The problem was probably not double compression. How did you export the clip from AE?

I edit in 16:9. Then, if I need a 4:3, I just import it into a 4:3 project and let the edges get cut off. That might mean that I need to pan a little left or right to get the best part of the 16:9 frame into the 4:3 frame. But pretty much, I can get a good frame just by cutting off the edges.

If the small pictures of the kids looked like they were placed into individual frames of a film strip that was slowly drifting from right to left, you could place each large picture down into a single frame that happened to be blank as it came across the screen. You could have three strips with the middle one drifting in the opposite direction.
It could take a while to set it up, but you might have fun with it.

When you keyframe the crop effect, use Hold keyframes for each letter instead of smoothly changing the value of the crop.

I did this example so long ago in Premiere 6.x that the Clip effect was what I had to use. Now you would use Crop. BAck then cropping always zoomed. Now it is an option.

I didn’t create them. But keep this in mind. A frame is one long board that is cut into four pieces and rearranged. So if you have the talent to create such a board, the rest is easy.
If you are like me, and don’t have any real artistic talent, you take someone else’s frame and use different textures and transfer modes to modify the basic template.
