“type on” effect
Posted by Nick Detomaso on January 23, 2007 at 12:04 amAnyone know a way to do the “type on” effect without a plug-in? Is there a better option than Boris Graffiti? Can it be done with After Effects?

Yes. It’s very easy to do so in After Effects.

Yes. Keyframe the crop effect. Let me know if you need a demonstration on how to accomplish this.

I did this example so long ago in Premiere 6.x that the Clip effect was what I had to use. Now you would use Crop. BAck then cropping always zoomed. Now it is an option.

January 23, 2007 at 3:36 amYou can do this easily in After Effects by applying the “Path Text” Effect to a solid layer, and then animating the “Visible Characters” value under the “Advanced” options. You’ll probably want to switch the default path from Beizer to Line.
