Never thought of that. I will have to try it.

It took me a while to figure out what you were talking about. I always view this forum in Thread mode. But your way does show 15 responses and only 4 are actually there.

    Seems like a forum bug.

Actually, the easy way, for me, is to cut and then change the opacity to zero so clips don’t slide around.

    1. The little blue LED is on next to the HDV label above the firewire connection?

    2. Your preferences are set for Device Control to “HDV Device Control”?

    3. Your settings in the Capture window are also set to “HDV Device Control”?

You will probably want to make the frame size 320X240, and a data rate of around 512K, and you may find that you can cut the frame rate in half. That should be a start. You may find that 768K suits you better, but it does increase the size quite a bit.

    Yes.

You can always do it the old fashioned way. Use Path Text and animate the Advanced Feature called “Visible Characters”.

Or, if you know how to use the new animation of the new style text, you can do that. The 6.5 presets are nothing but premade animations based on what was available in 6.0 – but presets make it easy.

Scaling to 50% makes it take up 25% of the screen. I think we are using different words for the same task.

The trick I use is this. I take the top track and figure out which shots are the very best, and I set the opacity to zero for everything else. I then do the same for the second track. Then the third.

Then when I play the sequence, All I have to do is worry about any overlap or any blank spots.

You can poke out the eyeball to make any track not visible so you can work on the track below it.

Another way to handle this is to set each track to 50% of it’s original scale and adjust them so they all fit on the screen. That way you can see what you are doing easier. But this tales a PC with some power.

Transform is probably the easiest. Use that.

If I remember back that far, you can either use the Motion effect to resize the image, or the Tranform effect.
