  • Hooked up Z1U to Prem Pro 1.51, doesn’t work

When I create an HDV project and then go to catpure, it says, “Capture device offline”.

I followed the instructions for the installation, and the camera is hooked up and in HDV mode. I installed SP 2 and 1.51. Is there something I’m missing? Besides the camera?

    1. The little blue LED is on next to the HDV label above the firewire connection?

    2. Your preferences are set for Device Control to “HDV Device Control”?

    3. Your settings in the Capture window are also set to “HDV Device Control”?

I got it… it’s a camera setting. It was set to “Convert HD to DV”.

Which codec are you using? I have to purchase the whole outfit (ppro 1.5, the hd codec, Sony Z) and would like to know which one you have and how it works. Also, are you using adobe’s dvd program? Any glitches at all? Is it relatively quick? I have used fcp to go to dvd before – is this similar?

Can you send me any info on your workflow and issues that you have encountered? mickavid@hotmail.com

    Thanks,
    Mick

I highly recommend Cineform Aspect HD to go along with Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5.1

Adobe Encore is a fine way to author DVDs.

I have the same problem not seeing the camera, and have tried everything except upgrade to SP2–do I need to do that?

Yes. The HDV drivers for the Sony are in SP2.

But then you may need to upgrade to the latest MainCOncept and Microsoft patches for SP2.

I just installed SP2 and the updates and rebooted but it still doesn’t work. I have the camera set to output HDV and all the settings in the HDV project are set to HDV. However when the camera is set to convert the HDV to DV, the capture works fine (eliminating cable issues, etc)

There are three places to check. Your Device Control in Preferences, and then two in the capture window. One is the Capture Settings toward the top of the Settings tab, and the other is the Device Control at the bottom of the Settings tab.

All those 3 settings were correct, still no go. Everything works fine except for HDV capture. I can control the camera and digitze into a HDV project with the HDV to DV turned on in the camera, and use either Matrox or DV capture device controls.
