“Specifies that no fill or shadow is rendered”.

Basically, it makes them transparent. If you want letters to be a mask, use the title as a track matte.

I have not done any montages since 1.5.1 came out. I have been too busy with my HDV camera. But I just dumped 330+ pics on a sequence, nested that sequence into another and added the pics back in, scaled down to fit and at 50% opacity. No problems seeing each and every one of them.

So perhaps it was a fix that snuck in? I really don’t know for sure.

Hmmm. Are you sure? I know that the MainConcept codec is used in Premiere Pro 1.5 as the default codec for editing. And it is not showing up as a special choice under Microsoft AVI. I understand that you have to pay for other MainConcept codecs, or upgrade, or whatever, but I was operating under the assumption that MainConcept is what the progeam uses for DV AVI.

Technically you are doing it right. You save a tiny little bit by never encoding into DV AVI and then to MOEG. Going straight to MPEG is better. However, with Encore, it will transcode it for you to just the maximum size allowed on a DVD. Very handy.

Use a bitrate calculater to determine the bit rate. Perhaps your audio was a problem, because 1:20:00 ought to fit using 7Mbps and 128Kbs audio.

On the other hand, it could easily have been a problem with your menus taking up too much space in Encore.

It was there before you bought it. You didn’t need to pay a penney for it. The standard DV AVI export uses the MainConcept codec.

It is one heck of a lot easier to just shoot it if it is on an LCD scree, or even on a CRT if your camera has a clear-scan setting.

But if you need movement, one easy way is to use Camtasia.

Hopefully I can list all of the pertinent settings for you. This is how I would export to play on my AVeL Linkplayer2 to display on my Sony HDTV. And yes, it is quite slow. Around 8 times realtime on my system.

Start with the WMV9 1080 60i preset. Do not choose the anamorphic, just the plain one.

Under video, it is Windows Media Video 9 and I generally use a constant bit rate if the video is not an hour or more.

Under audio, I change from the 9.1 professional to the plain 9.1 because of the Linkplayer.

Under audiences, I select a frame rate of 29.97, a custom pixel aspect ratio of 4:3, a frame width of 1440 and a height of 1080. I move the bitrate settings to 8000.00 and 100. And the audio is set to 128kbps, 48KHz, stereo (A/V) CBR

If you are playing it on a PC, you might want to change to 1280X720 square pixels. That actually works just fine on a Linkplayer connected to an LCD or DLP TV with 1280X720 pixels. Saves file space since there is no need for more resolution than the HDTV can actually show.
