I forgot to mention that refurbished items can often be the best deal around. Why? It isn’t really used. It came from a customer who didn’t know how to use it, or it had a bad cable end, or something was wrong. The thing is, a refurbished model is tested 10 times more than a brand new one. If it comes in with a complaint, even if it is “No trouble found” (quite common) they test the heck out of it. Whereas a brand new one gets a little testing and is sent out. Why? Because that is good enough in that vast majority of cases. But your refurbished unit will be tested in all details.

I used to work for a place that refurbished units, a a test engineer. So I know the deal. I often buy refurbished. Especially monitors and printers.

I believe you can set this up on a sample still and then save the settings as a preset. Apply the preset to one of the stills in each project you do, and then copy and paste the attributes of that still to the rest. Once they all have beginning and ending keyframes, you can add additional motion to them without having to change the keyframe type.

I have Quicktime Pro. Perhaps that is required before you can import Quicktime files. I have had it so long I really don’t know. However, my Premiere Pro 1.5.1 imports Quicktimes just fine.

Your AVI is probably fine. It looks good when you are editing and after you render? Then the problem is probably the program that is encoding the MPEG video. With Premiere Pro you can get a great MPEG2-DVD video using the Adobe Media Encoder. Your movies are short enough to use the maximum settings and simply use Constant Bit Rate (CBR). I think the maximum for most DVD players is around 8Mbps.

Premiere Pro likes Quicktime Animation codec just fine. Perhaps you need to install Quicktime 6 on your system>
