Russ,
I needed to go into the After Effects Mode when handling my transitions. I placed the footage above the track and keyframed the footage for opacity and voila! I think we are all capable of knowing how to do it, but sometimes we need to talk it out or have somebody jar our memory. Thanks again!

I have a client that was asking for a few more transitions that were on an a few other edit from up north. i think the edits were done on a Canopus or Avid. Any ideas?

Vince,
That works much better. What’s the ALT key do? It seemed to stay as separated audio to the timeline. Thanks for the assistance. That’s exactly what I wanted to accomplish. I have a lav on one channel and nat sound on the other. For these clips I don’t need the nat sound. This should save a little time. Thanks.

I am not able to drag the footage to the timeline as separated audio. I have broken out the clips and made sure I have at least 2 mono audio tracks. I have to drag the audio to the timeline, unlink the video and audio, then throw away the stereo audio and replace with 2 clips of the left audio for simulated stereo. There is one things that is good. The separated audio clips retain in and out points to match footage on teh timeline. In FCP I import and drag to the timeline and it is already separated. What am I doing wrong or does it really take this many steps? Thanks.

Milan,
I know letting down your client is a bummer. I would have offered to give this project to them gratis. it’s a hard lesson, but you need to do everything to deliver next time. Let this be a lesson you can grow from. Have back-up plans, like the stand-alone DVD or other measures. your reputation depends on delivering.

T.,
I have had a relationship with Sound Ideas for a while and I would recommend checking it out. They are noted for there sound effects, but the royalty free collection is excellent. i have licensed network music in the past and that is another excellent collection. Both collections offer LIVE musicians and not electronica like a lot of crap out there. Just a thought. http://www.sound-ideas.com ask for Ron Anthony.

Got the patch at Adobe.com and found out you can also go to export in Adobe Media encoder and prepare to export a WMV, but cancel after you select the WMV.
Thanks Guys for the response. I got everything working and its working great.

Mike and Steven,
You Guys are the best!
Thanks!

P.S. I have a Final Cut system at home that is networked to my PC with Video Collection Standard. I exported out of Final Cut an uncompressed .avi for importing into AE6.5 and Premiere 1.5. I edited the sequence and exported back as a Quicktime file. Am I losing quality or is this the best way to transfer footage? My version of AE on the Mac is not current and I love some of the features with PP. So I enjoy creating on both platforms. I got to say also the Clip Notes on PP2 ROCK THE HOUSE! Thanks.

Steven,
Thanks Steven! The loseless with alpha took care of overlaying the type on V4. One quick question about DV output from the firewire card from the computer. I have a DSR-11 hooked up to the firewire cable and an S-Video output to teh Sony CRT. No audio is following the video. The audio instead is coming out of the computer speakers. Can I switch this if I would like? Thanks.
