4 Point Matte through Transition
I am currently working on a project that I have used 2 – 4 point mattes on and when I transition (15-30 frame dissolve) I don’t see the mattes until the footage that I applied it to appears fully after the transition. Any assistance is much appreciated.

It works on FCP 5.1 on my system. You could try deleting your render files with the render manager, using opacity keyframes to do the transition instead of a dissolve transition, or restarting and deleting your preferences.

I needed to go into the After Effects Mode when handling my transitions. I placed the footage above the track and keyframed the footage for opacity and voila! I think we are all capable of knowing how to do it, but sometimes we need to talk it out or have somebody jar our memory. Thanks again!

Glad it worked. It sounds like it should have worked how you had it originally, but just because it should work, doesn’t mean it will.
