As with any workflows and software solutions, the results are subjective. I use the Topaz Suite (Sharpen, Noise Reduction, Gigapixel). I have dialed in the results and love the software. I just purchased Video AI on a special and look forward to doing the same. For Photo AI and all the products it is not for all images or videos and just a tool for enhancing certain content. Certainly a game changer. I shoot with Nikon D500s and D7500 and older D lenses. With this workflow and process I can put my name on it.

Had a similar issue. Try this cable
Tripp Lite FireWire 800 IEEE… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AAZQM2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Then use this adapter
Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SQ2CJUS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YPE9T16NMW179W0ZBQZZ
I have an older MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 2. I used it with a DSR-11 and FCPX. Hope this helps.

Are you looking for the codec in Camtasia or FCP? I used an animation codec to render the timeline after import. THanks for your assistance.

I am using Camtasia Studio 7 for screen capture. My FCP timeline settings I am adjusting. What compression should I try using? Animation, Photo – JPEG?? Thanks.

David:
You confirmed what I thought. Thanks.

September 28, 2009 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Rendering Loss of Color on Transparent ElementsThanks. I got it figured out. It was a render setting of straight matte versus premultipplied. It needed to be straight.

September 28, 2009 at 1:46 pm in reply to: Rendering Loss of Color on Transparent ElementsI just noticed that there is color in one of the graphic elements in this animation. There however are three circles that have a 50% transparency that dissolve in and expand later int he animation. These circles rendered in grayscale for some reason.

Another thing about the workflow of the HMC-150. By using the USB 2.0 port for transfer, can an external drive be set-up to transfer the footage to and work from for FCP? Maybe one FW port might work. I still like the matte screens, not glossy. Thanks.

I realize the MBP does not replace a dual quad-core MP, but does it make since to get the 24″ monitor if I don’t plan to get a tower any time soon? Thanks.

Zack,
You might take a look at the P2 Gear (AG-HPG10). This is a portable unit that can transfer footage to external hard drives of your choice. If you get a Bus-Powered USB drive you can transfer in the field without AC near. The P2 Gear is battery powered as well. I just got a demo recently and was impressed at the many things it could do. The P2 Store is useless and is only 60 Gb, which is not practical. You could transfer the footage to 2 hard drives for redundancy before reformatting your cards.
