New MacBook (Pro)
I am going to be upgrading soon to an HMC-150 and have been looking at new laptop to replace the MacBook I had ripped off. I have the latest version of Final Cut Express for cutting small projects. I was wondering if the old MacBook (White) 2.1 Ghz could handle AVCHD or do I have to get a MacBook Pro to handle this. Thanks.

I’d get a Macbook Pro. Not saying an older MB alone can’t handle AVCHD but if it does your performance is going to be rough. AVCHD is hugely processor intensive and you want a fast machine.

I realize the MBP does not replace a dual quad-core MP, but does it make since to get the 24″ monitor if I don’t plan to get a tower any time soon? Thanks.

Yeah it’s not a bad option. Just make sure to get the RAM and you want the fastest graphics card you can afford.
