Don’t confuse yourself. Record your footage onto XDCAM Disc using DVCAM mode. You can connect the camera to your MB Pro via firewire and transfer the footage into FCP. It is that simple. And YES, you will get both audio and video.

Standalone units are great for making direct dubs and that is it. I create all my DVD’s in DVD Studio Pro. I can be as creative as I want to be with the way I want my audience to watch the DVD.

The time it takes to name and finalize the disc on a standalone, I can create a fully customized DVD in DVD Studio Pro. I also can say that my encoding is faster than real time on my Mac Pro Dual 3.0.

Go with the internal DVD burner. You can control what your audience sees. Standalones cannot.

Make sure they are in the correct folder. Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins or in your User folder.

There is a solution for G4, G5 and MacPro users. I have not tried the PCMCIA adapter but I have the SATA adapter and it works very well.

The same for Boris Red 4.1 transitions apply to the Intel and Non Intel machines. Transitions DO NOT work for any version of FCP on the Intel. Transitions WORK on FCP versions 5.1.1 and EARLIER.

Hopefully a fix is VERY soon! The workaround is too time consuming.

Once you have all your settings set, look for the save as button and give it a name. It will show up in your custom settings.
