Transfer speeds are all relatively the same.

Nope. They are PCMCIA cards, the older G4 Powerbooks had these. The MacPros have PCI express slots.

There is a solution for G4, G5 and MacPro users. I have not tried the PCMCIA adapter but I have the SATA adapter and it works very well.

It says that it connects to computer via USB2.0.

I guess that it is not sufficent stable throughput from it, so that I could edit directly from it?

Im thinking:

If I first have to load up the Panasonic AJ-PCS060G from the P2 cards.

AND then transfer from the Panasonic AJ-PCS060G to my MAC, then it will take a LONG time….

( And that kinda blows away the deadline benefits that I saw from P2 )……

You’d never edit directly from the cards. BAD idea. Because they are very expensive you shoot with them, and while you are shooting, transfer the footage off of them to either the P2 store or external HD (if you had a P2 reader) , and then from the P2 store to an external HD for storage so that you can get the P2 store back into the field. That hard drive is now your master tape.

I don’t think that there was a claim of increased speed of this workflow. Although importing from the field drives is much faster than logging and capturing. Transferring the cards to hard drives or the P2 store in the field is pretty fast too, and can happen while you are still shooting, if you have an assistant.

This is an entirely different workflow from tape…very akin to a film workflow where you have to change magazines, and have an assistant camera.
