If you find editing with the native files is OK and you have no speed issues then there’s no need to transcode, as long as your project renders to ProRes then there is no other benefit

You can also do that for the whole clip in the event viewer

This happens on EX material in FCPX too, try changing playback quality to “higher quality” in preferences.

Just for clarity, I’m guessing Steve probably meant FCP 4 / 4.5 as multicam functionality has been in FCP Classic since version 5.”

Not true about tracks, I have been cutting 3 and 4 camera sequences in exactly the same way as I did in FCP 6 before multicam, laying one clip above the others and then razoring when I need to cut between shots. Please post more about how you are trying to work with it.

If you post your system specs someone may be able to help with the crashes. I’m getting a few each day, but they never lock up the system and they have so far not lost any work.

Also if you just want to vent then the main FCPX forum is very good for discussions of that type

I’ve had this happen a couple of times, Have you allowed time for FCPX to render out thumbnails? Have you restarted the app?

As far as the naming goes, have you clicked on the “name” field above the clips this works for me.

Also in the event library settings ( The little cog icon at the bottom of the event library pane) you can choose how you group clips there.

On my system it crashes quite frequently, but to be honest it’s not the worst build of FCP I’ve ever used in terms of stability.

It does feel like there is some memory problems occurring the longer your edit session lasts. I just restart two or or three times a day to speed things up

I’m enjoying editing with it as well, I’ve just finished a 100 minute show for DVD release and I’m just about to brave another one.

Rafael, Of course I understand why probablY the majority of FCP users are disappointed with FCPX and cannot use it. I also understand what a giant mistake Apple made in EOLing FCP7. I have never argued against any of those points.
