Pulsing luminance when importing 60i footage
OK… here’s what’s happening. I’m bringing footage from a Canon XF100 into FCPX. It was shot at 1080i/60 and looks fantastic when viewed in After Effects or as a Quicktime .mov file. But after importing it into FCPX there’s a subtle luminance pulse every second… very clearly visible in the video and the vectorscope.
I shot at 60i to have the flexibility to do a bunch of slow-mo retiming on some of the shots.
Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening? It’s driving me absolutely nuts. If I transcode the footage for H.264 in Adobe Media Encoder and then import to FCPX all is fine.
Argh… I would be extremely grateful if anyone could help me figure this out.
