    You may need to digitize the footage with the display on.

    I don’t know about you camera, but our Mini DV decks have an option to have the display visible on the LCD monitor, but not on the output, but there is a switch that will allow us to turn it on for the output as well.

    Thanks David;

    Yeah I wound up sending it to S&P and they had not problem with the word.

    I’ll take a look at the article later when I have some free time.

    Thanks again.

    [John Pale] “I just did this for the project I am currently working on. Yes, QT X records from the screen in H.264, and at a strange frame rate. I was, however, able to drop it in Compressor and convert it to 1080i ProRes @ 23.976 (my editing frame rate) pretty quickly and easily, with very nice results.”

    Thanks. We currently work in 8 bit uncompressed SD.

    I guess we can mess around with it a little more and see what we can come up with.

    Thanks again.

    [Dave LaRonde] “There is an easy-to-use and inexpensive recording utility called iShowU that will do what you seek, and which records in any codec available to quicktime. Check it out:

    Dave;

    Thanks for the response.
    I know there is software that can do what I want, but it’s a budget thing at this point.

    Yeah $60 is not a lot of money, but when you have 5 suites it starts getting up there.

    I’m just trying to confirm or deny if it is possible to do with the tools built into Snow Leopard. QT 10 or QT 7 pro.

    It does not look like it to me.

    Thanks for the help.

    [John Pale] “On Snow Leopard, you need to install Quicktime 7 from the install disk

    Quicktime X in the default Snow Leopard install and does not contain the pro features.”

    I installed QT 7 and it shows up in the Utility folder, as it should.

    My problem is that I’m trying to do Screen recordings of a web site and QT 7 does not have that option, QT 10 does, but does not allow me to save it in a format that can be used in FCP.

    Is this normal, I’ve been told by producers and editors here that have their own laptops or FCP systems at home that you can do what we are trying to accomplish.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    John, you are talking about the OS install disk or the CS install disk.
    I’m guessing the OS, but just want to clarify.

    Laura;

    A Raid is a process where you take multiple drives and combine them into 1 drive for one of several reasons.

    I video it is done for read and write speed.

    What Michael was saying is that if you have multiple drives in your tower (I think it can hold 4) then do not combine your main system drive with the other 3 drives to create a RAID.

    Just take the other 3 drives and RAID them together or buy an external RAID like a G-RAID, LaCie or any of the many others out on the market.

    Use the graphic EQ and pull all the highs and lows out.
    Leave only the mid range and you’ll get what you are looking for.

    [John Pale] “Its S&P’s job to tell you what they want. Don’t be shy about asking. Changing it after delivery can be stressful and expensive.”

    S&P Cleared it this morning, so I’m not concerned anymore.

    Thanks for all the comments.

    I listened to the piece and I could make out what came after “life’s not worth a damn till…” because it was part of a song lyrics for an Off Broadway show.

    Lifetime approved it to air.
