Let me know, because I actually haven’t tried it for editing.
John Fishback said “The biggest issue we’ve found with remote desktop-like software is the audio either isn’t there at all, or is out of sync. It’d be great if that could be brought together.”
So I would like to hear how it works out for you.
I could definitely understand a lag, but the lack of audio altogether I don’t see, unless the audio was set to go to his I/O device (BlackMagic, AJA, or Matrox). I’m thinking to hear it via Remote Desktop you would have to send it to the computer speakers.Steve Cohen

What about Remote Desktop?
Remotely logging into the MAC at the University and controlling that from your home computer.That will eliminate transferring files from 1 location to the other.
I have not tried editing this way, but I have done other things remotely.

Thanks Andy;
I agree it is always good to know 3 different ways to accomplish the same thing, but I’m going to look into Jean-Chris tophe’s suggestion a little further.
Besides it’s a free solution that’s always the best as long as the results are the same.
Thanks;

Thanks Jean-Christophe.
That seems very helpful.
I think I’ve done as much as I can do on the Friday of a Holiday weekend (in the US) I can’t reach my technical contact at lifetime and my freelance engineer is tied up on another job until next week.Thanks again;
Steve.

We’ll their export plug-in may do the trick.

I just looked at their web site again, it’s been about a year that Jeremy recommended this to me.
I need to work with Lifetime a little more and I guess do some tests with them.
Thanks;
Steve.

You actually can edit with MXF files using MXF4mac (https://mxf4mac.com/) I haven’t tried it, but Jeremy Garchow recommended it to me a while back.
Besides that, I think that the specs I included were for an Avid system.
Lifetime uses Avid to edit in their facility and then they put them onto their Omnion server.We are experimenting with them to be able to deliver our shows in a file format (no more tape), these are the specs they supplied me with.
Thanks;
Steve.

Has anyone else noticed that Apple has skipped 2 versions of Final Cut and jumped from FCP 7 to FCP X (10)?
Can you really trust a company that can’t do math right?

Thanks again guys.
I’m in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area, so I’m sure someone will have a terminal.Even if we have to go with a sports team, we have the Dolphins and Marlins at Sun Life Stadium or the Heat at American Airlines Arena or even the Panthers at BankAtlantic Center, but I’m sure one of the local affiliates would have one we could use.
Another option I’m looking at and we have in place already is a Getner, which will allow the people on each end to hear what is being said to each other, and if they have the ability to record to tape and then send us the tape we can marry it together here.
We’ve done that before with Satellite Media Tours.

Thanks Ron;
I was wonder more about receiving the signal, so I take it that we would either need to truck to receive it or see if a local station can get the feed for us and dump it to tape.
Thanks for the info.
