  • Not sure what it is you want, but perhaps you’re looking for the Text spline object under the splines menu?

To the best of my knowledge, it’s not possible to import animated vector graphics into Cinema 4D and then extrude, etc. You can import vector artwork (i.e., illustrator files) and extrude/animate the resulting splines in C4D, as you probably know, but there is no way to even export animated vector graphics from AE.

Is that where your emitter starts generating particles? It could be sitting there generating particles before it starts animating.

To give an idea of cost, I bought a refurbished Mac Pro 8 core machine in February (16 CPUs with multi-threading) which ran to about $3,500 if I recall correctly. I then bought 32GB RAM from a third party supplier for about $500. So about $4,000 all told. Not cheap, but if you’re using it to make a living it’s worth the investment, for sure.

After Effects can use all of your multiple cores, but you will get the most benefit if you have as much RAM as you can afford/fit in your machine.

As for multiple machines, I think you need 3rd party software to setup a “render farm” with After Effects? I could be wrong – I do recall reading about running render instances of AE on different machines, but I’ll leave that to someone who knows something about it.

  • Select the layer, put the timeline indicator where you want the start of the layer and then press “Alt” + [ to bring the start of the layer to the current time indicator, or Alt + ] to extend the end of the layer to the current time indicator.

I don’t know the nature of the project, but could you scale up the image to simulate a zoom instead of using the camera? I don’t understand why you have the image scaled down to 5%… Leave it at 100% and pull your camera way back?

Seems to me that the mesh is a bit messy, so the texture is not being applied correctly. Do you have a lower poly version of the helmet?
