Yes, you’re right – that’s what I’m trying to do, activate the little FX switch. Split layers it is, then…

David and Dave, thank you very much. I will check into the split layer thing – I hadn’t thought of that. Also, hold keyframes I have read about in various contexts, but haven’t really looked into using them. That’s about to be remedied…!

Thanks very much for your valuable knowledge – and talk about quick response time!

    Cheers,

There are some good tutorials on this subject at https://www.videocopilot.net

Look down the list and you’ll see them – I think there’s at least two on creating 3D looks from still photos.

First a disclaimer: I am by no means an expert in AE, I’m a student learning this stuff, albeit at the ripe old age of 37…

In any case, I’d imagine the figures are created by keying actors on a green screen and then using the alpha channel to create the cutout figures.

That type of shatter effect could be achieved with something like the Pixel Polly plugin, perhaps?

Yeah, I was thinking the same – Particular is definitely not capped at 400 particles/sec. You might be able to fix the problem by increasing the particles/sec to a number in the 1000 to 2000 range. It’ll take longer to render, of course.

Andrew Kramer has a couple of good tutorials for creating light streaks with Particular, such as this one:

Of course! I am still working on it, but I aim to be finished in a couple of weeks at most (it’s a music video). I’ll post a link here when it’s done.

Ah… thank you so much – I wasn’t expecting such a fast response!

The head is motionless, so hopefully that’ll make things easier, as you say.

    Thanks again – much appreciated!
