We experience the same problem at work on our Mac Pros (8 cores and 16GB RAM). When doing a lot of RAM previewing I just switch to single processor, then turn on Multi processing for rendering. It is weird. I have a colleague whose Mac (similar spec) at home doesn’t exhibit the problem, but we I haven’t been able to narrow down what the cause might be.

Can you post a screenshot or your project file?

I think you would be able to do this using more null objects. i.e., position new nulls where you want them on your triangle mask and parent them to the triangle or the existing null on the triangle and go from there.

Sounds to me like you just need to use an adjustment layer. This goes above all your other layers. Apply the tint to the adjustment layer and it affects all the layers below it.

I don’t know what the video is that you’re referring to, but the technique sounds like pixillation

It looks like either Trapcode Shine or a similar effect called Cartoon Rays (something like that) from Boris FX. They offered it as a freebie some time ago.

Wow – that’s wild. I had the same problem – Premiere Pro just crashing on startup. Got on Google, found your post and realised that I just installed that font a couple of days ago. Deleted it and all is fine. Who would have thought a font could cause such a crash? How did you figure it out? Cheers!

Tutorials 31 and 32 at https://www.videocopilot.net show you how to create the water surface and reflections effects, and there’s a tutorial on simulating volumetric lights without third party plugins here https://maltaannon.com/articles/after-effects/volumetric-lights/

Maybe one of those would be helpful? Good luck!

I’m not in front of AE right now, but one solution that might work is to precompose it and then time remap the result to speed up those last sparks?
