Hi all. I saw Aahron’s (did I spell that right?) excellent tutorial on creating spark fx using CC’s particle playground, which was tremendously helpful. Only question I have now is how do I alter the speed at which the sparks fly? My keyframes are set just a few frames apart for a nice little burst that I want to appear quickly and begone. Looks great, except the sparks taper off at what seems much slower than a realtime effect. I’ve tinkered with every setting available but, still being a newbie at it, couldn’t figure out how to speed those sparks up to make them ‘fly away’ faster. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I’m not in front of AE right now, but one solution that might work is to precompose it and then time remap the result to speed up those last sparks?

Play around with the “longevity” setting.

Oops, let me correct myself… I didn’t read your post closely enough. The “Longevity” Setting will make your particles die faster, but if you want them to actually MOVE faster you’ll need to change the Velocity under Physics.

    Hi Christian,

Longevity was indeed the key. I THOUGHT the longevity only controlled the length and amplitude of the particles, which is what the velocity settings do, more or less. Anyway, I toned it way down and amped up the gravity for them to fall off-screen as desired, and it’s pretty sweet now. Thanks a lot!
