    BG: Effects in FCP X

    “BG Editors Bag of Tricks”

This is an FCP X Effect preset.

Quite often we find ourselves in the situation of having to add a bit of production value to an edit, but without the extra time to do it.

I built into this preset for a number of things I find myself adding when there’s little to no time to at all to do it.

Quite often you add multiple filters to experiment, so the idea behind this is to have a number of quick treatments to hand to get you out of a hole quickly.

FCP X Effect: BG Editors Bag of Tricks

    – Pre effect simple grading controls
    – 8 built in presets of quick colour styles
    – Colour style amount control
    – Various layer blending “Make it Glow” controls
    – Crush the blacks
    – Global tint control with intensity slider
    – Add a vignette, with adjustable scale, feather, blur, brightness and colour control
    – Fully adjustable Sky Filter gradient effect
    – Simple tv scan line effect
    – Letter box controls, with custom scale, picture re-rack, picture scale and border / border colour control

Great stuff Brendan, love your presets. Do you have a site or page that has all the presets you’ve made so far?

Have been slowly working on a website in my spare time…. getting there slowly.

Hopefully will have a site with more screenshots and user documentation, and if time permits some videos showing them in use soon.

Glad the presets have been useful.

    Cheers,

    Brendan
