Try adjusting the clip black and clip white parameters.

No worries. I agree – I don’t really know why you’d want to turn those off either, but… each to their own, I guess.
Cheers

Yes, but you know what? I’m an idiot (or I haven’t had enough coffee yet this morning…) I just realised I misread your post and I was thinking in terms of mask paths, not motion paths.
My last ditch attempt to answer this:
Go to the “View” menu and choose “View Options”. Make sure you have selected one of the points on your motion path in the comp window beforehand…
Then make sure “Motion Path Tangents” is checked.
That’s about the only other thing I can think of.
Good luck!

Hmmm – not sure. The only other reason I can think of for handles to disappear is if the vertices were switched to a different mode – i.e., if you press G on your keyboard until you get the little > shaped cursor, and click on the vertex you cycle through the various options. But that’s just a vague possibility. 😉

Sounds like you may have enabled the “Rotobezier” option by mistake? There’s a checkbox to the right of the comp window for the Rotobezier option when you have the mask/pen tool selected.

I don’t see that option, can you clarify where it is?

So you want to have that effect along the whole path of the stroke? That’s a lot trickier, I think. I was thinking you just wanted that look to “kick off” the stroke, as it were. Particular might work, if you use some bleeds as particles and follow a stroke, with a little playing around you might be able to get a stroke that bleeds slightly as it goes, giving a more organic feel. Worth a shot. Otherwise, I suppose you’d have to shoot actual ink/paint stroke on the right kind of paper to get the effect you’re after, but that’s a little beyond the kind of work I usually do.

Looks like some stock footage of a watercolour or ink bleed. You can find such footage online, although recently I did a job with lots of similar bleeds and splashes and I got the elements from a company called Digital Juice. Can’t remember off-hand which of their packs they were in, but look for watercolour and ink bleeds and you should be on the right track.
