For what it’s worth, I’ve experienced lots of issues with SWF files in AFter Effects in the past. It always seems to be fairly hit or miss whether they’re going to play nice or not. I know that doesn’t help you, but at least you know you’re not the only one…

I don’t see any text sample in that image…
So you just want to place text over the video but have it blend a little? Try using the blending modes on the text layer – you could try Screen, Overlay, Add, among others to get the look you’re after. Sometimes duplicating a layer with a blending mode applied will make it pop a little better.

Then animate the position and rotation of the parent null to control the spiral motion and movement of the emitter.

November 17, 2011 at 12:18 pm in reply to: CC Particle World 3D Stroke low to high resolution issueSince you’re animating the particles in a spiral (basically) have you considered creating a spiral spline in Illustrator and pasting that into AFter Effects as a mask (path)? Then you can copy/paste the mask position data tot he position of your emitter and it will follow the spiral. Might be a simpler and quicker approach than trying to keyframe the whole thing again.

November 17, 2011 at 11:47 am in reply to: CC Particle World 3D Stroke low to high resolution issueThe problem appears to be your null animation (Null 2). The position keyframes are animated to fit your original smaller comp. Since the null position keyframes determine the path of your emitter, you’d have to re-animate to fit the larger comp size – I can’t think of any way you’d “scale” that up to fit the new comp size.
I’ll have another look in a couple of hours when I have more time.

For the Mac, I use an app called “Little Snapper”, great for screenshots and stuff in general, but will also capture a whole webpage. I’ve used it for similar animation setups and it works fine. I’m sure there are tons of similar utilities out there for screen grabbing.

If I were tracking a rectangle in some footage so I could apply the corner pin data to a photo, I would just prepare the photo (photoshop, whatever) so that it was already creased before applying the tracking data, using transparency where necessary.
But perhaps I still don’t get it. It’s late, and I’ve had a couple of beers… 😉

I guess I don’t fully understand what it is you’re trying to achieve.

Having you tried precomping the layer before applying the mask?
