March 11, 2013 at 5:13 am in reply to: Vegas 12 – Audio on mp3’s not playing intended soundHey guys. So got this figured out…I hope. So all windows 8 scan disk, check/r and other tools were showing hard drive was fine. Took it into geek squad since I had warranty and tech support and they ran a diagnostic and it failed every single drive test which they said was a first for them. They replaced the drive, and luckily I created a system image to recover from bc the computer would have had to go to asus since win 8 does not come with media nor will manufacturer send you it. In any case, got it home, loaded vegas, files etc. All is working well. Had it for a minute where no sound was coming on most the mp3s and then everything worked fine. Shut it down, restarted, opened vegas, and still fine thankfully. Thanks for all the help!

March 7, 2013 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Can’t find file message (but file isn’t in project)Hi Stephen, The audio issue im having is not for a particular file. All mp3’s i import, doesnt matter which, wont play or wont play the mp3’s audio but will play some audio track that is tied to some event I imported in some other project in the past. Extremely weird…Doesnt matter if I start a project from scratch etc, it will still play audio from some random event from some past project (but not from an mp3)Usally wil be the same events audio until I open a new project and bring in a new event with different audio. Then every mp3 will keep using parts of the audio from the imported event.
Very confusing to explain, and I am sure to read.

March 7, 2013 at 2:41 am in reply to: Can’t find file message (but file isn’t in project)Thanks Nigel. Ran the scan disk from windows and could find any errors funny enough. Either my power supply fan or CPU fan has been whining and making noise for last few weeks. Maybe is power supply issue. Just bought this Asus in January. Luckily I have a friend at bestbuy and have it all covered under warranty ; ) could well possibly be a bad drive combined with other issues. Ill let everyone know..

March 6, 2013 at 4:41 am in reply to: Can’t find file message (but file isn’t in project)I love it. Simple answers always are somewhere…or here shohuld I say. Thank you! The only left over issues I have is a post i created a few days ago on audio file issues. I believe there is no quick fix for this.
it originated in my current project Ive been working on for a week or two. Lots of events, and many mp3 files added. Was working perfect. All of a sudden i go to open my veg on saturday and all the mp3’s wont play. They will play if I play them outside of vegas, but in the timeline…nothing. They arent muted, my speakers work etc. They actually play sound for a video event i imported…which is weird.
If I erase the whole timeline and start from scratch, it doesnt matter what mp3 i add, the sound is still from this video event. I tried reinstalling, different builds, and at first it was fixed, but then once i shutdown my comp and opened back up….same issue. All video events play perfectly and there sound is fine.
Today I tried, starting a new project, adding different video events, and then adding some mp3’s to play over it. Every mp3 i added would only play the audio of the video/audio event. not the mp3. If I ungroup and strip out the audio from the video and just have the mp3 playing…still plays the audio that was tied to the video…In a lot of cases its just silence on most of audio track for that mp3.
I would say its a bug, but i tried both the 394 and 486 build and no difference. Cant even restore my computer bc my restore points I cant restore from as microsoft says there is some disk error. I cant believe though that this disk error would cause a problem i am only seeing in vegas…Any Thoughts whatsoever on this would be much appreciated. As some extra notes, I have moved none of these audio files. Let me know if you have any questions…this is all I have been working to fix over last few days. Out of things to try..

Hi Joel. Funny enough I’ve run into a similar issue. A 30 min project with many different mp3’s in the timeline, worked and worked perfectly. Played perfectly within Vegas 12 build 398. For weeks that I worked on it. All of sudden I opened the veg, played the preview and can’t hear any audio from the mp3’s. Actually, it all if the mp3’s will play audio from some random video I took. All video that has its original audio will play fine. Video will play fine. But all imported mp3s….no. Very weird. As you said. They all play perfectly in iTunes or wherever else. Not in Vegas though. I uninstalled, and reinstalled and it helped. Then I shutdown comp and when I restarted same problem was there. Other times I reinstalled it didn’t help all the time. Now nothing helps. Let me know if this sounds like your issue at all and if you got it fixed.

March 6, 2013 at 2:01 am in reply to: Vegas 12 – Audio on mp3’s not playing intended soundGents, does my description not make sense or has no one ever run into this issue before. Interestingly enough windows 8 says i cannot restore at any point due to some disc issue. Hoping this is related to my Sony Vegas audio issue. Any insight or confirmation that no one has seen my problem before would be much appreciated. Thx

March 4, 2013 at 1:32 am in reply to: Vegas 12 – Audio on mp3’s not playing intended soundHey guys. Just one note. There were times I uninstalled and reinstalled and it didn’t fix the issue temporarily. Totally perplexed by this happening all of a sudden

You are spot on. I unchecked quantize and it allowed me to slide anywhere. So I guess the question is why would these fades be placed without me placing them, and at such fractions of a frame. Shouldn’t be placed at all. I would think I manually did this by mistake somehow but no chance, especially at that fraction of a frame with the quantize check. It wouldn’t allow me to if I tried. So somehow this is automatically happening under whatever circumstance for some reason. Any clues?

February 28, 2013 at 4:13 am in reply to: Vegas 12 Pro – How to join (Not “group” clips)Hi John. That’s exactly what I ended up doing. Made my split on each side of the clip I wanted to speed up, clicked the create subclip option, shrunk it with control and drag, added velocity, and then dragged it in to loop marker. Took a while with all of those normal speed events mixed in but it came out great.
James, the velocity envelope was the issue bc I then had to drag in to hit the desired end point. Control drag alone alone speeds up 4 times. I needed 8 times, which required me to use velocity at 200% on top of the max control and drag. If my goal was to say have someone walking at 8x towards a door and then smoothly switch to normal speed to open the door, and do this with each person out of say 20 that are walking towards the door, then the above is the easiest solution to do this. Hope that example made sense.
