Ah right, each one of the teardrops would have it’s own sinusoidal curve for the rotation to keep it in contact with the planes instead of one overall rotation profile.
Sorry for sending you down the wrong rabbit hole.

You can also select the slider value and nudge it one setting at a time with the up or down arrow keys.
Depending on your layer stack you may need to put the slider on another layer. (as I did).
You can just keep staring at the screen and rip through all the options.

hey its as easy as this – put this on the menu parameter in question of the effect (this was done on the fractal noise fractal type parameter) and you can slide through all the settings. Its got a rounding on it so only integers go to the effect.

    Math.floor(thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“Slider Control”)(“Slider”))

Is it as simple as the bulge deformer with a negative setting? (the deformer is a child of the box object and the box has to be editable – so a parametric cube won’t work – up the segments on the cube before you make it editable so you have enough polys to make the deformation smooth.)

  • Hi James,
Can you upload the project again? The one I played with didn’t have the display tags turned on or any textures. You can definetly tweak the shaders that come in from Fuze or Mixamo and make them C4D ready complete with transparency options (and that is a better way to go for what you are trying to achieve).
I’ll take a look and send it back with new materials.

There are a couple of approaches depending on footage.

First there’s the Optics Compensation under Distort. This one is to help overcome lens distortion imparted on the footage by particular cinema lenses. (you can also use it to impart a distortion on footage so it looks like it was shot with a real lens).

The second way is the bezier warp tool. Both these solutions assume there is an overall warp to the image that needs correcting.

The last way is more fine-tooth-comb. – the reshape effect. You place paths across the image that match your distorted geometry and then duplicate those paths and reshape them so they are right.
None of these add significant time to the render.

There are also the mesh deformer and corner pin effects but both of these are either annoying to use or produce a softer image than they should. CC corner pin or Power pIn produces a much superior image.

Since by their definition they are sin waves (or cos waves) why not use sin or cos instead of sqrt or pie? The nice thing about sin waves is they repeat naturally and sin is a built in math function.

  • Just for fun try setting your coordinates pane to “world” instead of object before you hit made editable.

Also try the short cut (C) or the icon in the tool bar to see if they both work the same.
    I’ve not seen this happen.
    What version are you running?

So like the blend layers with shift/=. Not to my knowledge there isn’t (and yes I’ve wanted something to test out different looks without having to look where I was mousing)
You might be able to tie a slider (set to integers) to the effect’s parameter with expressions. Dan Ebberts on the AE expressions forum might know a way to pull that off.

April 5, 2018 at 6:50 pm in reply to: How To Adjust Facial Expressions in C4D?

When you say adjustments do you mean alter the geometry or animating them with bones or morph targets?
There was another user that had issues with this pipeline and I wondered how you were getting on with it and if there were any tricks – they were getting massive file sizes when animating in Fuze and bringing that into C4D for rendering.

As for facial – you can put bones in the face (or more correctly animation nodes) and then you can paint weights to control how much influence each node has on each polygon. You can also use morph targets. You position your animation nodes to get the expressions you want and then take a snapshot of that expression. Then you can smoothly transition from one snap shot to another.
I don’t think Mixamo generated bones for facial stuff unless there is a specific “face” model they have that I haven’t seen yet. ( I gave up on Mixamo when adobe bought them and left us all stranded for a few years).
