I know this is the after effects forum not the particle illusion forum but I thought I’d show you this anyway in case you missed it

    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/deane_elvis/disintegratePeople.php

Perhaps it might give you some creative ideas

I’ve found that I can click on “Mask Path” inside the Mask Properties and copy & paste the data to the emitter’s xy position.

That works ok for a single path. I guess if I have multiples paths
eg: outlines of text from Illustrator I would have to repeat the process on a different solid for each letter.

That seems rather crude. I was just wondering if there could be any easier way.

Oh well back to the drawing board.

I have a Q6600 and its good but not too pricey

However I think it is better to consider your GPU too

What graphics card are you using ?

I think I have cured this issue now but still not sure what caused it.

Even a reboot didn’t affect it but I restarted Illustrator with Shift Control Alt held down to reinitialize any config and that seemed to have done the trick.

Thanks for your advice any how.

I have to agree here. The temptation to jump in and start messing around without a clear idea of your intended goal is great.

I have to admit to being a bad one for doingg that but sitting back, thinking, planning, doodling & sketching it all out first has to be the best way.

    Hmm Card Wipe maybe ?

As for the flexing I wonder if Fractal Noise could be used to drive something with the layers luminance ?

  • I’ve seen some of Ayato’s work and he does some really good effects.

The only problem is that his grasp of English is very poor which does make it hard for a non professional to follow on.

Andrew Kramer did something similar on his site, videocopilot.net

I wonder if that will help you ?
