    Hi,
Im making a movie for my major assignment, and i have an actor teleporting from a pool.
So far i have the actor ‘teleporting’ with a fractral noise layer, and a motion tile adjustment layer for the screen shake, yet it doesnt look too realistic as it has no effect on the water..

Is there anything i may be able to create using particles, or stock footage or anything to make the footage look even a tiny bit better.
Also if anybody had any ideas regarding effects that could take place for when the actor lands on land (water falls down on actor), and how to create these, it would be most helpful..

Hopefully my post wasnt too confusing haha
    Thanks heaps,
    JD

    Teleporting from within the water?

From what I saw when I was last abducted by aliens, there’s usually cavitation bubbles that form when a pressure differential develops between the water in the pool and the zone of time/space interruption.

Probably the more elements add between the talent and the water the better it’ll ‘blend’ them together. Try to add some haze, some extra water splashing, bubbles, and also focus on color correcting it all together. A lot of VFX stuff has multiple particle systems, adding many different elements, and really bringing stuff together. Don’t feel limited to video, bring a nice DSLR cam if you can, or just a digital camera, and shoot everything. Build background plates and match them in if you need them. What about green screening the actor? Is the actor/actress in the water? Or falls in the water?

I think a storyboard would clarify things. Def. Listen to Dave too…get a clear vision and do your homework so you’re not on set thinking…I THINK I CAN FIX IT IN POST. Draw it out and consult with your crew/team so you just execute on set.

And what kind of teleporting is it? Like Jumper? Or like star trek? Or like something we’ve never seen before? (<--- recommend that one! create a vision and make happen) Nicholas Toth Freelance Animator nicholastoth.com

I have to agree here. The temptation to jump in and start messing around without a clear idea of your intended goal is great.

I have to admit to being a bad one for doingg that but sitting back, thinking, planning, doodling & sketching it all out first has to be the best way.
