As far as I understand there is no way to do that. This is the big problem with getting a timeline with RAW clips into color grading applications such as DaVinci. This is the main reason why I still mainly use FCP7. Avid has this capability by the way. I sure hope this is addressed in the newest version of Premiere. Why can’t you recored the VO and then take it back to your place?

Yes it worked, but that is really inconvenient, especially now that I have completed my edit. That is something I hope they fix in the next version.

I also just requested:
-Choosing attributes to paste
-No ability to search for clips to reconnect
-Multiple open projects
-Partial renders
-No through edits
-and for AE to offer a spell check feature.

That being said, I love Premiere more then FCP. I’m working on a project right now where I have a color correction, garbage matte and keying filter applied. The background has a blur image and it plays in real time and is super sharp. That is cool.

This is strange. The Breakout to Mono option is grayed out saying I can’t do it for any of the clips in my timeline. Any idea on why that would be?

The AE work around worked perfect. I sure hope Premiere will be able to import file folders like AE does in the next version. Thanks for the help.

I hope thats 60 frames per second. 60 fields per second is 30 frames since you have one odd and one even filed that makes up one frame. If you have Motion you are in luck. It’s Optical Flow is amazing. It does a great job slowing footage down.

The truth is that “expertise” is being rapidly devalued everywhere. With info about everything (including detailed demo videos!) a smart phone click away, knowing how to do something is worth less today today then ever before.

Yes and No. There is so much I could learn to do but only so much time in the day. So I’ll still let someone else change the oil in my car even though there are a lot of tutorial on how to do it. One of the main reasons people come to me is because I’m an expert. But to your point, yes, more people then ever are using NLS that aren’t professionals. This has also created a need for more videos then ever before.

Yes, there will always be a market for expertise. But I wonder if that expertise will be about process – as it largely is today, or something different. Style, Vision, Boldness, Trust, Attitude….. something other than operational technique, which can be looked up pretty quickly on line.

I agree 100%. I guess I didn’t need to write what I wrote up above. I also think this already occurred. When I started editing it was Liner Editing and NLE work stations where very expensive and in the hands of very few. They cost more then a luxury car and the per hour editing rate would make jaws drops. I jumped on FCP when Version 2 was released and never looked back. The three big production companions in Utah could not afford to compete with these new “cheep” editing systems and already invested to much in their hundred thousand dollar edit bays. They had to close shop. I hope editing is no longer about button pushing but about what else you bring to the edit.

Benjamin, which version of AE are you on? I wonder if this is new to CS6? I personally like to export things out as movies since Premiere don’ts render AE files fast. And by the way. FCP didn’t render Motion files fast either.
