1. It looks like all you need to do is add a camera and have the camera zoom in on the text. Simply have the text cut from one to the other in mid zoom. Or you could parent the text together and just add a scale increase.

A better camera is never a bad thing. However, I’ve keyed plenty of DSLR footage with out any problems. A good light set up goes a long way.
For your situation use the Key Cleaner, last time I used it these settings worked best for me:
Additional Edge Radius: 1.6
Reduce Chatter: Checked
Alpha Contrast: 0%

I think that tutorial looks good. I wonder if applying a cartoon effect to that would give you the look you are after. It is under Stylize in the effects tab.
Or apply it to the “particle_texture.mov” Also, probably reduce the amount of particle you use just a little to give it less detail. Best of luck.

The best way to remove noise from the edge of a keyed clip is to use the “Key Cleaner” filter. It is amazing but takes forever to do a RAM preview with.

First off, in the still grab her hair appears to be so thick it should work with the rotobrush. Here is a tutorial to watch on the Roto Brush: https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/alien_surface/ Skip to 16:35. Be sure to add a feather to the roto brush.
If you want to use the mask track all I can advise is what I have already said with the addition of make sure you add a feather to the mask.
Back before both of these tools where availableI did do stuff like this in photoshop and it never work. Because you are looking at each frame independently it bounces around to much once the images are stitched together.

If you decided to go the animated mask route I recommend you let AE try to track the mask for you. Create your mask and then right click on it. Choose “track mask” from the drop down menu. It actually works surprisingly well. I used it for some parts of this spot I did: https://vimeo.com/160269510
