Yes, but the OP wants to do event effects and event pan/crop. Groups won’t help him with this.

If the events are from two different files, you can’t. You can set them up on the timeline and do a render to a new track, then they will be a new, single video file.

How are you getting the images? The whole image is lower-resolution, not just the text.

Hard disks are so cheap these days, I just use a SATA Dock on my desktop and each project has its own hard-disk.

There’s many ways to skin this cat in Sony Vegas Pro. I’ve done it using Photoshop to make my lower-thirds background, then generated text in Sony Vegas.
I could probably do it all on Vegas but the client wanted a shape to the lower-thirds and wanted it to “fly” in from the side. It was fairly easy using Track Motion to make the lower-thirds fly-in.
Just search the forum for “lower thirds” and you’ll find a lot of answers.

I don’t have studio, but look for a preset for DVD Architect. You probably selected an HDV preset which is why you got the M2T file.
You also need to render the audio to .ac3 using the same filename.
