  • Text bug in 9 and 10

Posted by Jerry Jesion on October 22, 2010 at 12:23 pm

While using 10.0a to cut my latest project I noticed a bug while using Sony Text. It appears that the 64bit version does not do a very good job rendering text compared to the 32bit version. I found this out a while ago when using 9.0e. It appears that the problem is related to having a title of more than one line. It is in the standard text and the PPT.

I have put a zip file with example vegs here (1 MB). Can anyone replicate it?

BTW using Win 7, Intel quad core, Bad Axe 2 Mombo

    Regards,
    Jerry

    Jerry,

It looks to me like you have your preview quality set to something other that “Best”. Try changing this before you take the snapshot.

How are you getting the images? The whole image is lower-resolution, not just the text.

    Steve,
The images in the zip file are blown up using Pan and Crop to better illustrate where the issue is. I then save them, best full. Hence the lower resolution. The largest difference lies in the letters “s” and “k” in “Brunswick”. Can you reproduce the effect using the vegs I provided in the zip file? Again the only difference is one is rendered using VV9e 32bit and VV9e 64bit.

Looks good here on Win 7, Pro 10, 64-bit.

    Steve,
Is this a frame grab from the rendered avi or one from the timeline? The preview from the timeline looks good but it is the rendered avi that has the problem.

Thanks for spending time on this..

    Jerry

    That was from the timeline.
Here’s a shot from the AVI file (using Snagit).

    Steve,
That nails it. I am surprised at the high quality of the text on your image compared to mine. I am at a loss as to what is going on with my system or how to fix it. Very discouraging.

Again much thanks for taking the time to help with this.

    Regards,
    Jerry
