    Hi everyone,

I’m in need of some help. I would like to create a title at the bottom of the screen, on a translucent black background bar. I was told that this can be done in Adobe Premiere, but I was wondering if someone knew how to do this in Sony Vegas.

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There’s many ways to skin this cat in Sony Vegas Pro. I’ve done it using Photoshop to make my lower-thirds background, then generated text in Sony Vegas.

I could probably do it all on Vegas but the client wanted a shape to the lower-thirds and wanted it to “fly” in from the side. It was fairly easy using Track Motion to make the lower-thirds fly-in.

Just search the forum for “lower thirds” and you’ll find a lot of answers.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for. I didn’t know the nomenclature.

    Thanks again!

You could make a solid background with the media generators and cut it out with the mask tool. Then just bring the opacity a bit down and that’s it!

That’s what I do. Make a solid color, crop it vertically, move it down with the arrow keys (track motion) add some transparency and put text over it on another track.

Here’s one I did for a demo with some animations on the overlay.
