I still can’t help but think that you have a drive in your workflow that is formatted FAT-32. Use the Control Panel to go to the Disk Manager. Do you see FAT-32 anywhere?

You could still be running out of memory. The Gray Screen of death could simply be the RAM swapping with Virtual Memory. How long do you wait before killing the task?

You need to adjust the encoding bit rate.
Higher bitrate=Higher Quality=Bigger File.
Encode Time – is mostly dependent on your processor speed, and if you have any FX applied to the track.
I don’t recall where I got it, but this is the Bit Rate Calculator I use:

Unmanaged Exception is almost always a device driver problem. What is the media you are trying to import? Has it worked with this type of media before? Did you install any CODEC packs?

“Crash” is a horribly broad and inaccurate term. Exactly what happens at 11-min? any error messages?
run the Task Manager and click on Performance. Start another “render as” and tell me if the memory usage climbs steadily during the encoding.
