Glad you made it in. It’s been on the forums for a month, and if your current version is registered, you should have gotten an email from Sony with the offer.

Sounds about right, actually.
A dual-core PC is way underpowered for the FX you are adding.
2Gb of RAM is the minimum for Windows 7, let alone trying to run Vegas, too. I would bet that your O/S is hitting the swap file quite often. You don’t say, but if you only have one HDD, then go read a book while you render (or more likely, encode).
Last, color Curves and Magic Bullet FX affect EVERY pixel in EVERY frame. Really slows down even faster systems.Steve Mann

[Mynor de León] “but Is strange Sony has not made something yet to have that amazing software running on a mac.”
Not really. As john said, Vegas uses tons of Windows routines that don’t exist in a Mac environment, so to make a Mac version would require a MAJOR rewrite of code – probably close to 100%. Vegas Windows users would never stand for paying the cost of the engineering effort to develop a product (Vegas for Mac) few would use, and Vegas for Mac users would never pay for the development costs for a new product with a small market (really, Windows outnumbers MAC users by a huge percentage).
It is a LOT easier porting a Mac program to Windows or Linux than the other way around.

The odds are very good that the problem is in your PC. Possibly a corrupt icon cache. Look here for a solution: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html

November 17, 2011 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Vegas Pro11 Upgrade system compatibility warningJeff – If your PC will run Win7-64, then what’s the hesitation? Win7-64 is by far the best windows release yet.
(Windows 8 is gonna suck big-time, but that’s another thread).

[Kayley Grace] “What do you suggest I render in Stephen? I need to take the HD1440 file and make it into a video file that can easily be downloaded.
I’ve installed Vegas 11 and that doesn’t seem to have helped. Actually thats made it worse. now the files are all choppy and jumping all over the place. Atleast before they were only out of sync now they are unviewable.”You said that the source file is WMV, so I suspect the problem is there. Where is the wmv file coming from? How does the wmv file look playing on the timeline?
If the playback is choppy, then your PC is probably underpowered for the task. Vegas 11 needs even more processor power. But, this has nothing to do with your sync problem.
WMV is not popular at all. The delivery format of choice would be MP4 using the Sony AVCHD encoder in the “Render As” menu.
But first, make sure the source file isn’t the source of your problem.

[Kayley Grace] “The issue seems to be when the imported video is a wmv.”
I’ve experienced something similar myself and verified it for a poster on the SCS forum. Encoding WMV (you don’t “render” WMV, you encode it) always results in an audio track different in length from the video track. (I tested it in V10) But, since I’ve never had a client ask for WMV files, it’s never been a problem.

November 7, 2011 at 5:46 am in reply to: Vegas Pro11 Upgrade system compatibility warningI have to take Brad’s side on this. You can go from the email to the purchase page and never see any warning that Vegas 11 won’t run on XP. If one has been running Vegas 6,7,8,9 and 10 on XP, then why would one look at the hardware requirements page before going to Version 11?

Actually, I do sympathize with Brad. I recently bought some software that also had no system requirements until I got to the download page. Only when I saw the download was a dnx file did I realize that is was for Mac. Brad *is* correct that nowhere on the email or on the purchase page does Sony say Win 7 or Vista only.
