just copy the event on multiple tracks, offset by the amount you want to show, and reduce the opacity of the tracks on top of the “master” track.

Gearshift replaces your AVCHD with a proxy in lower resolution for editing, then swaps the original AVCHD just before you encode your output.

I’ve never worked with MXF files, but you should just be able to drop them into the timeline.

Lots of keyframes.

You’ll basically keyframe the text properties start position, then again at each point you want the text to move.

Get the most powerful processor that you can afford. Nothing else effects Vegas performance than processor power.

Get at least 2Gb of RAM for each processor core.

I personally avoid ATI because of problems with the drivers – maybe it’s just me, but I always buy nVidia Geforce cards. Most recently a pair of GT520’s in one system and a GTS450 in another.

Use the Microsoft Windows Movie Maker to re encode the file into a 1080i WMV file. Vegas can edit that.

Depends on how much money or time you want to spend on the issue.
If you have more time than money, you could keyframe the event pan/crop tool.
If you have the money, you might try motion tracking software.

I don’t know, but image stabilizers might give you a zoom option.

You’re not gonna like the answer, but AVCHD is heavily compressed and needs a lot of processor power to preview in real-time.

Your only solution with an underpowered PC is an intermediate file, such as Cineform, or the Vasst Gearshift proxy program.
